Well my friends, I've come across the deal of the century. Shutterfly is giving away 50 free holiday cards to ANY blogger that writes about their new holiday collection. My friends and family should know by now that I'm a HUGE fan of photo gifts of every variety and Shutterfly has a HUGE selection. In the past I've created photo mugs, calendars, ornaments, holiday cards, aprons and much much more. We can point to one life-changing event that brought on this love of photo gifts - Alexis. I think her grandparents (all 12 of them) appreciate the opportunity to show her off. Well, I'm sure all of you know by now, but here is my formal blog announcement that we are having another baby... of the boy variety this time. This is big news to us, since we were totally expecting another girl (for no really good reason.) We had a blast last week at the ultrasound and more so after the ultrasound as we let Lexi announce to us that she was getting a baby brother. We waited until after the appointment, had someone tell Lexi the gender news and she told us. (I highly recommend this as a fun gender reveal). Anyways.. here is baby Vanilla (Lexi has had this nickname for her baby sibling since we told her about his pending arrival some 15 weeks ago). He is due around April 6!

We jammed packed this past weekend with lots of fun activities while the weather is still nice. On Saturday we spent several hours at the wonderful Grant's Farm. I really hope that this great little attraction never goes away; it really is a lot of fun for Lexi and for us. Nini, Pop and Bobby joined in on the fun and we got quite a deal thanks to Groupon.

Whoops.. I've been soo soo busy at work that I've neglected Lexi's blog. I sincerely apologize for my lack of motivation and time. But, that is not to say that we haven't been busy as a family. Let's see, Lexi turned two and boy is two FUN! (catch the sarcasm). I'm totally understanding the meaning of terrible twos. She is still a sweetheart and hilarious a lot of the time, though. Some of the things she can think of and say are amazing. I wish I had a video camera attached to my hand at all times to catch some of her awesome-ness.

In other news...
We had a St. Louis Man of the Year competition at the end of July and Lexi was the trophy girl.. I've added some photos, with the promise of more to come.. (I just need to get them off our our camera!) Here is Alexis presented the trophy to Uncle Joel.. the STL Man of the Year 2010!

Birthday Girl

Alexis had a fabulous birthday weekend to say the least. Not only did she get to see Mati and Brooke, but nearly ALL of her friends and family spoiled her rotten. We went to Happy Joe's on Friday night to celebrate Lexi's birthday as well as my cousin's 24th birthday. (Lexi missed her birthday by about 1.5 hours). She got to open her first gift from Nini and Papa (the adorable Snow White costume). Saturday, 17th (her actual birthday) we spent the day with Jaimie, Brooke, Amy, Mati and Amy's sis-in-law Lori. Lexi got to do her first Build-a-Bear/Bunny and we went to lunch. Sunday was party-time. We had about 50 of our closest friends and family over for a Disney princess party. Lex LOVED the attention, the cake, the gifts, and most of her her family being around. Thanks to everyone for EVERYTHING this weekend! We love you!

Vacation #2

We spent a week in the beginning of July at our cabin in Ellington, Mo. (really it's my grandma's cabin, but we all get to use to it) Most of the days were spent shuffling our family from boat to boat on Clearwater Lake. We saw almost every member of my extended family at some point during the week, the most being 15 or so people under one roof (a fairly small roof at that). It was an absolute blast, lots of laughing, lots of sleep and tons of water.

We had a nice visit from Jaimie and Brootie last week for a few days. Jaimie watched Alexis during the day and we got Brooke for an evening, (let that fabulous baby swapping begin.. love it). It's so so nice when the girls get to spend some time together. I wish with all my heart that we all lived in the same city, but we are doing our best to keep them close. Love you girls!!

We spent the weekend at the Lake with my grandpa. We got to spend some time with my (are you ready for this..) Grandpa's wife's son's family. Michael and Cassandra have a daughter, Maxine, who is 6 months younger than Alexis. Here is a video that Mike took of the girls dancing to some disco. Love this!

Almost two

Wow, It's really hard to believe but Alexis will be two in a matter of weeks. While we really enjoy watching her grow and learn more every day, I miss my little baby sometimes. This morning when we were walking downstairs to start our day she, out of nowhere, said "Mommy's so pretty." I almost died. I love that little girl.

Our first clue that the big T-W-O is almost here was Ishaan's second birthday party last weekend. Ishaan's mom and I were pregnant together almost the entire time. She had Ishaan six weeks before Alexis was born. Happy 2nd Birthday Ishaan!

We've been to Ft. Myers Beach twice in the last two years, both times in June. I thought it be fun to see how much Alexis has changed in the last year.

The Lotion

We just got back from a FABULOUS trip to beach and the ocean (or the lotion as Lexi would have it). We spent three great days just as a family at a beach-front resort in Ft. Myers Beach. We really had a good time bonding as a family.

Alexis LOVES the ocean, the seashells and the POOL. She is kind of insane when it comes to the pool these days. Jumping in, going underwater, no fear whatsoever. That scares mom and dad a bit.

After our few days alone, the rest of Tim's family joined us. A big thank you to Matt and Jaimie and Matt's parents for letting us stay in their condo for a few days. It was great to see everyone, especially our Chicago relatives whom we miss daily.

Each night during the first few days of the trip, we went to the pier for some food and entertainment. There were several street performers there, but this guy below really captured Lexi's attention. She still asks "Where is Scary?" almost every night before bed.

We REALLY miss Florida and are hoping and praying that this oil disaster will end soon...Can't wait to go back again!

Carnivals, cake and more

We had quite a busy weekend with lots of fun packed into a few days. On Friday Tim got home from work and decided to take us to the carnival. Lexi got to go on her first carnival rides with daddy. Now every time we drive past the carnival she yells "BUMBLE BEE".. here's why..

Then on Saturday, we got to visit all of my work friends at Barb's annual summer party. Here is a photo of the three newest mommies on the third floor. Kaitlyn, with Christine, is 4 months older than Lexi, and baby Nash, with Heather, is just 6 weeks old.

Sunday was daddy's 26th birthday. He had to work most of the day, but we had some family over to party that night. Of course, Alexis had to blow out daddy's candles and eat his cake too! Most of the evening was spent in our awesome backyard, playing with the boys.

Last weekend Uncle Danny and Uncle Joel both graduated from Webster University. Danny with a BS in Information Technology and Joel with a BA in Education. We are so very proud of both of them. Unfortunately, I had to work Commencement, so we didn't get to see Uncle Joel graduate, but we did Danny and got a few pics. We love you both and congratulations!
(PS. Forgive sleepy eyes below, lets just say we got to see Danny graduate. Alexis missed the festivities due to nap time.)

Technically its Go Cardinals, but trying to fix this pronunciation skills of an almost two year old is pretty fruitless. We all got to go to our first Cardinals game of the season a few Sundays ago with Blake, Amy, Mati and their families. Lexi did so much better than I thought she would, sitting still for most of the game (besides the back and forth between mommy's and daddy's laps.) She was super excited to see Mati too.

Dear Alexis,

A few weeks ago Tim and I made the decision to participate in the baby dedication day at our church. We decided that as a family, we'd like to make it publicly known that we are doing our best to raise Alexis to be a God loving, Christian young person. As part of the baby dedication we got to go on stage and read Alexis a letter about our hopes for our future. Tim was a trooper and read the letter; I was pretty sure I would cry the whole way through if I had to read it. Here is the letter, we truly do mean every word of it.

Dear Alexis,

You truly have no idea how much of a blessing you have been to us over this past year and a half. Each and every day we thank God that he chose us to be your parents, to love and to guide you and to provide for you. We promise to always love and protect you, but always know that God can do both better than we ever could hope to do.

It is our prayer that your love for God develops and grows deeper every single day. That you learn to trust in Him, to pray to Him, to give Him your every worry, hope and dream. We pray that God will provide us, as your parents, the wisdom and courage to raise you to seek His word. Our hope is that your “God is Great, God is Good” prayers and “Jesus Loves Me” songs are the foundation for a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. Always remember 1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

The weather this weekend led to some fun outdoorsy activities. On Saturday we visited Suson Park (and all the animals) and cousin Kaylee taught Lex how to role down my grandparents' hill... Well she didn't so much role, but scooted backwards,, but hey it worked.

"I coming, I coming"

I wanted to write down a few of the adorable things that Lexi is doing and saying lately...

1. Anytime she thinks I'm leaving and she doesn't get to go she runs behind me saying "I coming, I coming!!"
2. Two nights ago she saw the moon while we were driving and cried every time it went behind the clouds "Moon!! Moon!!"
3. She is now "sleeping" in her big girl bed, because she thinks its cute to climb out of her crib. Its a work in progress.. we are trying, but she can escape that bed too....wish us luck.
4. She is getting pretty good at potty time.. no pressure, but when she says she wants to go.. we try and she succeeds.....sometimes.
5. When we are singing her to sleep at night she has, as of late, been interrupting our serenade to say "BYE BYE". At that point we stop singing and leave. Obviously she loves our singing voice.
6. The other day while we were driving she exclaimed "I'm sleepy" to which I replied.. "ok take a little nap" and she said "bye bye" and laid her head down.
7. She loves to color and names every crayon "purple."
8. When daddy is tickling her she screams/laughs... "no, daddy, NO"
9. She asks to watch "catoons" in the morning.
10. She makes us take her "piLLLow" and "bankie" with us when we leave her bed in the morning.
11. The accompanying photos is to remind us all the summer/spring is just around the corner.. and we CANNOT wait!

We are just loving every minute of our 19th month old. I can't believe how fast time is flying, but she is pretty amazing.

Happy New Year! 09 in Review

We have had quite a year in our family. I'll do a photo recap...

January 09 - Alexis turned 6 months old and was soon mobile.
February 2009 - She became a working woman and was cast as an Enfamil baby.

April 2009 - Lexi became a Cards fan!
May 2009 - Uncle Randy and Susan got married and Lexi is a full-fledged baby food/solid food eater.
June 2009 - First trip on an airplane and to the Florida beach. First swimming lessons.
July 2009 - She turned 1 and started walking. We also sold our house and moved in with Nini and Papa for a while.
September 2009 - Baby Mati and Baby Kennedi were born. We found our new house in Oakville.
October 2009 - Baby Brooke was born.
We spent a lot of time with our families and would not have had it any other way. We are very very blessed and thank God for His hand in all we have and do.

Christmas '09

We had such a fun family Christmas this year with Alexis and both of our families. Lexi really enjoyed talking about Santa and snowmen and saying "ho, ho, ho." (She is really developing verbally and is picking up new words everyday.) Although I dealt with a rough cold the days leading up to Christmas, everything went smoothly and was pretty carefree. We started on Christmas Eve at Grandma Wanda's and then onto Grandma and Pete's.

Then on Christmas Day we opened gifts at our house, just the three of us. She loved that Santa brought her a new vanity, just like mommies. She also really enjoys her new recorder from her stocking. (ADVICE: Don't buy noisemakers if you don't HAVE to :) Later that morning we headed to Nini and Pop's house for gifts there and then the entire family came over for lunch. We ended the day at the Timmermans with more gifts and the arrival of Jaimie, Matt, Brooke and Ozzie. Those four spent the entire next week with us, along with Amy, Blake and Mati. It was really nice having all of the girls together. Although, next year is probably going to be even more exciting when they are all walking and talking. We rounded out Christmas at our house with the Williams family and back at my parents for my Grandma Denbow's family that following weekend. Whew.. makes me tired just reading ;)

Alexis decided to do a little exploring during our trip to Aunt Jaimie, Uncle Matt and Baby Brooke's house a few weeks ago. She apparently really wanted to climb the stairs (which is becoming a new fun habit). On a side note, she has mastered (almost) the use of the word 'help'. Its really cute if she needs get down or reach something or get unstuck. Apparently her daddy got his head stuck in a few railings in his day...

She also loved Brooke's car seat.

BABY BROOKE!!

We finally have our new little niece/cousin and couldn't be happier. She is just beautiful and so precious. We hated leaving her and her mom and dad. Alexis just loves all these babies. Miss Brooke Elizabeth Alley was born on Oct. 26, weighing in at 6 lbs 4 oz. Mommy and daddy are adjusting well to being parents to a newborn. We spent the week in Chicago and had a great time with Mama and Papa T, Amy and Mati and, of course, Jaimie Matt and Brooke. Here are some photo highlights...

Here is Alexis enjoying the view from our new home in Oakville! As you can see by the lack of floors, it is under construction at the moment. We will hopefully be living here very soon. We can't wait to have a little bit more room to roam (ahem...chase Alexis) around.

So sorry for the delay in posting. its been a crazy few weeks. We've sold our house and are living with my family for the time being. We are working feverishly to close a deal on a great house in Oakville, but we will have to keep you posted on that. The above photos are from a few weekends ago in Chicago. We hadn't seen Jaimie and Matt in a while and decided to drive up. They were fabulous hosts, as always and took us to a White Sox game downtown. We also visited Buy Buy Baby, this great baby superstore, where Lexi found her very own rocking horse (if it wasn't $90, we probably would've come home with it.)

We are very excited that Jaimie and Matt are coming in this weekend and dually excited for the reason behind the visit. Amy and Blake will welcome Mati to the world be the end of the week! We cannot wait to meet her!

A weekend at the lake

A few weekends ago we all got to spend the weekend at our cabin at Clearwater lake. Every member of my family was there to go boating and enjoy some time together. Alexis loves the speed boat. The wind in her face was more excitement than she could handle. She even dozed off a couple of times to the sound of the engine, just like all of us kids did when we were little. We got out on the lake on Saturday evening and most of the day Sunday. Alexis even got her first haircut. Brittney was kind enough to bring her supplies and trim up our little one's mullet ;)

Citygarden Fun

After seeing how much fun Winnie had at Citygarden, Alexis just had to check it out. What a fun place! She got to play in the water and the fountains.. It was a great afternoon. We also went and saw some turtles (one of her new words) at the zoo after we dried off. Tim and I love our Fridays off together. She is so much fun.

Amy/Matilda Shower

Our busy weekend of fun started out with Amy's baby shower on Saturday morning. Amy's mother-in-law graciously hosted in Edwardsville. We all had such a great time and Lexi was really sweet and the star of the show. It probably was a good thing, though, that she slept through the gift opening.. I'm sure she wouldv'e loved to help. ;) Jaimie's shower is next,, we can't wait!

Alexis is ONE. I can't believe I just wrote that. This year has flown by and we have made so many memories. Its hard to imagine what we did with our time before Alexis. She is such a blessing.

We had an amazing birthday party for her at Aunt Kelley's clubhouse in Fenton. There were nearly 60 people there to celebrate with her. As you can see, she loved her cake and all of the attention that she got that evening. Alexis got many, many gifts including books, stuffed animals, and scooters. She is currently in love with her Disney princess scooter and talking Elmo. Thank you to everyone that made her birthday and her first year of life so so special.

We just got back from a great family trip to Ft Myers Beach, Florida. Alexis loved every minute of the beach and the ocean; at one point we had to stop her from crawling INTO the water. We mostly stayed ocean or pool side with some great afternoon naps in between. She is also did so wonderfully on her first flights. I couldn't get over how good she was (I was slightly worried that she would want to crawl around the plane). We'd like to thank Nini and Papa, Danny, Bobby and Jackie for coming along too. It wouldn't have been the same without you.

We decided to enroll Alexis in the parent/child swimming lessons -- well, "get used to the water lessons" -- through the Red Cross at Kennedy Rec Plex. She is by far the youngest there, but she LOVED it. No crying, just playing with the ducky in the cool water. I bed she really enjoys it once the water gets a bit warmer. Mommy and daddy will like it a lot more when its warmer too. She's our little fishy (check facebook for more photos from yesterday!)

Backyard Swim

After having a ton of fun at the Webster Groves pool on Friday (with Kati, Shae and Aly), I decided to buy a $10 blow up pool for some backyard fun. Since daddy was working, Alexis and I had a picnic and swim party on Saturday afternoon. She loved it and mommy didn't mind getting some sun either.

This weekend we had the honor of being a part of Uncle Randy's wedding to Susan. It was such a great day and Susan looked beautiful. Everything went very smoothly, except for my my brother, Danny, missing it due to his extended hospital stay. No worries, though, he got to see the whole thing via live web cam and I think he's coming home today! As you can see from these photos, Alexis had a ball dancing the night away. She was so wired that she didn't go down for Papa and mama T until 11:30 that night.

Memorial Day Parties

It's been a while since we've posted anything, but Aunt Jaimie was here for Memorial Day weekend and we all had a great time. Saturday, Jaimie, Alexis and I went to Blake and Jay's birthday party, followed by a bbq/washers night at our house for Tim's 25th birthday. Sunday, Tim's parents had a bbq and had family over for the holiday and for Tim's birthday. All-in-all a great long weekend.

Grant's Farm

Tim, Alexis and I spent our Friday off at Grant's Farm. We had no idea how much fun it is there. There is so much to do and see. Alexis loved the tram ride and the goats. She just generally loves being outdoors, which is fine by me. We hope to make several more trips to the Farm this summer. Anyone want to join??

Here is a photo of Alexis and me after our first mother's day together. Tim had to work, so we spent the day with my mom and family. We went to church, then the family (yes, all of them) came over to my parent's for a mother's day/ April & May birthday celebration. Good food and good fun. I have to admit that I was a little emotional just thinking about being someone's mom and having my very own daughter. A very happy day.

I don't know but maybe its this beautiful spring thunderstorm we are having, but I am totally being a sap right now. I just really can't get over how much Alexis has changed in the past 9 months. She is getting so big and such a personality. She went from sleeping all the time and needing me (and her daddy) for everything to crawling all over the place and babbling constantly and becoming somewhat independent. I am excited to see how much she continues to change, but really.... don't grow up too too fast.. I love this age, right now.

We spent the weekend in Chicago visiting Jaimie and Matt and Alexis's soon-to-be first cousin that is growing in Aunt Jaimie's tummy! They are expecting their first baby, due in late October. We couldn't be more excited and yes, that means Alexis will have a new baby 1st, 3rd and 5th cousin by the end of this year (see the previous posts for other baby announcements). We hadn't seen them in a few weeks, so we decided to take a trip to Chi-town to visit. We planned it so we drove when Alexis was sleeping at night.. it was good plan. We took a ton of pictures on Saturday at the Arboretum. I think Alexis really enjoyed being outside. Here are a few more....(check out facebook for the rest)

We celebrated Easter yesterday with our families and Alexis thoroughly enjoyed her first swing ride in her new swing from the Easter bunny. We went to church at Arnold Baptist with my family, went back to their house for our Easter baskets, went to Grandma Denbow's house for lunch, then Tim's family's house for dinner. All in all a fun-filled day. Here are some pictures...

We took Alexis to her first Cardinals game last night. She got to hang out with Blake and Amy, who just found out that they are having a little girl too! She really enjoyed all of the action and people everywhere. She obviously gets her love of sporting events from her daddy. Although, I doubt he would sleep through 3 innings of major league baseball like she did.

It has been a while since we last wrote to update you all on Ms. Alexis. She is amazing, changing every day. She crawls all over the place, pulls herself up and walks along the couch. Tim, Grandpa Timmerman and Joel went to the zoo on St. Patricks Day. They said they had a great day and I was incredibly jealous that I didn't get to go. Tim said her favorite part was watching the train go by. Can't wait for more zoo visits this summer!

Thanks to Uncle Jim and Aunt Kelley we got awesome seats to Saturday's MO Valley Tournament games. Alexis REALLY enjoyed all of the action. I'm pretty sure she was cheering for Creighton, even though they were losing horribly. We had a great time with her and Tim is super happy that she is so into basketball.

Alexis apparently REALLY enjoys Christmas music, even though its March. This is shocking that I got this on video; she usually hams it up for the camera if she knows its on.. you can see her start at the end of this video. She just started this dancing thing the other day. It's something new everyday with her. We love it.

Great News!! Alexis is going to have another cousin come September. This new baby is Blake and Amy's, Tim's first cousin. We are absolutely thrilled with this news.. can't wait for Alexis to have multiple playmates within the family. Congrats Blake and Amy!

We have a crawler on our hands

Alexis is officially mobile. She started crawling on Friday (actually going forward now). We put up the stair gate Friday, as well as put in the plug protectors. She will go after anything electronic (tv remotes, cell phones, cords, etc.) She is quite the techo-savvy baby. She learned to crawl just in time for Jaimie and Matt to get here this weekend.

Enfamil Baby

Today was Alexis's photo shoot for the Enfamil Formula ad. Here is Alexis with the three other babies that were getting their pictures taken. One of these babies will be featured in magazine ads in parenting magazines. She did so well all day. We were at a home in Ladue from 8 to 5. Each baby had 5 or so 20 minute sessions with the photographer. She even got to play with a 7 week old puppy. They had the babies reaching for a binky while on their bellies. She was adorable, of course. They even had a caterer and makeup and wardrobe. Here is her wardrobe...

My Valentine

Here is me and my valentine.. Alexis and I spent Valentine's day together since Tim had to work. We went to see both sets of grandparents to give them their card from Alexis. She is wearing a shirt that Nini bought her that says "Be Mine". She gave her dad a "My Daddy and Me" book of photos. Alexis got her very own book from us with her as the star of the book.. it is too cute.

We decided to let Alexis really experience her first real snowfall by playing outside for a few short minutes. She loved that fluffy white stuff. She even made a snow angel. (A note: We were only outside for about 3 minutes, her nose wasn't even cold :)

Alexis is going to be 6 months old next week. It is so amazing how time flies.. she used to be so tiny (see above..she was probably 1 week old there). Tim and I are so blessed by her everyday and we can't wait to see what she has in store for our lives.

Last Friday, Alexis officially met her friend Kaitlyn, who is the daughter of one of my co-workers. They both made an appearance at our work Christmas Party. They were adorable together and laughed and played. Kaitlyn is exactly four months older than Alexis, but, as you can see, Alexis isn't much smaller than her :)

Alexis loves to read!!... well not such much read, as look at pretty pictures.. AND, in this particular book, feel soft furry animals. She is starting to pay attention at the pages while we read her books like Daddy Loves Me and the Rainbow Fish. Reading is a great activity if she is in the mood for it.

Merry (early) Christmas! Alexis went to visit Santa this weekend at the mall. We tried to get her to smile, but to no avail.. At least she didn't scream :) I think she told Santa not to get her anything this Christmas because she was sure that she would be spoiled by her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Alexis had her four month doctor appointment yesterday and weighs in at 14 lbs and 10 oz, 23.5inches long.. She is right around the 50 percentile for both.. Doc says she looks great and that we should start introducing baby food... so that is exactly what we did. As you can see from the above video she thoroughly enjoyed her first taste of peas, almost trying to eat the whole spoon!

Here are a couple of Alexis's 3 month photos from Sears. She did such a great job smiling and dealing with mom and dad changing her outfits several times. I can't believe it has already been four months... she is the very best thing that has ever happened to me and Tim. If you haven't seen her lately she is developing quite the personality, laughing and smiling constantly. We started on cereal last week and she is taking to it slowly, but we'll get there.... hopefully she will hit the sleeping through the night milestone here pretty soon. Anyways, thanks for reading and keeping up with my baby. :)

A few weeks ago, Alexis and I met with Cary and Winnie at this great little coffee shop in Maplewood that has fun baby stuff. The girls had a lot of fun playing together and Cary and I had fun catching up on mommy stuff. Winnie is about 3 months older than Alexis, so Cary is a great resource for what to expect with Alexis. BTW, taking a photo of two babies is ridiculously difficult, lol.

We spent Halloween handing out candy to the trick or treaters at my parents' house and visiting Grandma and Grandpa T. I think Alexis had fun dressing up in the hats and bib from Aunt Jaimie and hanging out with Uncle Danny and Jackie while they passed out candy. Alexis very obviously has raw talent for the game that her daddy loves. Tim took her outside to show her her first basketball and she took right to it.

Marino loves his little sister! Today we had a great visit from our Parents as Teachers educator. She was very impressed by Alexis's abilities, from holding her head up, to using her legs and smiling and laughing. She couldn't believe how alert she was. She even said that Alexis was doing things that a four month old does. We are very proud :)
